Llandovery cup

Ammanford Youth 5 Llandovery Youth 15

Ammanfords youngsters despite a valiant effort were knocked out of the Carmarthenshire District Cup competition by a well organised visiting Llandovery outfit.
Ammanford started strongly to apply the early pressure forcing the visitors to concede numerous penalties, with props Garin Criddle and Dan Morris creating problems with some storming runs. However Ammanford elected not to take the kick able penalties as they went in search of a try , but unfortunately paid the price when a long range counter attack was quickly spread wide for the visiting full-back to score fifteen minuites into the game.
Ammanford hit back immediately when no.8 Guto Arnold powered over the line from a 5 metre scrum to level the scores, but failed to add to this score despite dominating the remainder of the half.
In contrast Llandovery quickly used the wind advantage in the second half to regain the lead with a long range penalty kick and followed this with a period of pressure on the home line to extend their lead with a converted try from their wing.
Ammanford to their credit continued to battle but they were unable to breach the organised defence, with the teams earning a red card each through their determined efforts.
