Aberavon Quins Home

Ammanford 10  Aberavon Quins 6

What a lovely afternoon of rugby it was on Saturday at the Rec with strong winds, heavy rain and a seriously muddy pitch. With the majority of both sets of supporters watching the game from inside the club the players did their best to entertain and do their best.

There were some amusing incidents throughout the game caused by a slippery ball and strong wind. But both teams gave it their best with the home team proving in the end to be too strong for the visitors.

Although for most of the first half Ammanford were camped close to the Quins line the scoreboard was not used. It took and error from Ammanford at the start of the second half to give the visitors a penalty and their centre put it over out of the mud from 50m.

Ammanford resumed their pressure on the Quins line and this time after a strong carry from prop Rhodri Jones, the charge was taken on by skipper Chris Morris to power over near the posts and centre Steff Roberts added the extras, 7-3.

Due to the ever worsening conditions running rugby was very limited and often ended in lost passes or knock-ons. The only other scores were exchanged penalties. Ammanford were glad of their third league win on the bounce which saw them move up to fifth in the league.
