Birchgrove 21 Ammanford 16
The weather might have improved but the state of the Birchgrove pitch was still dire. Birchgrove showed why they are second in the table by splitting the visiting defence wide open to get the score going. However, after some recent fine performances Ammanford came back positively and thanks to a fine piece of work by centre Craig Woodall who cut through and fed fellow centre Steff Roberts and stayed in support to receive a return pass to go over under the posts. Ryan Williams added the extras, 5-7.
The remainder of the half was a slog and the only points came from the boot of the respective outside halves. This was also the case for most of the second half and with the game going into the final quarter Ammanford led 14-16.
Players on both sides were feeling the strain of playing in such muddy conditions and it was one big effort from the home pack that decided the game when they rumbled over for the final try which was converted and gave the home team the win. This was another tough result for Ammanford who have suffered several defeats by 5 points or less. Again another tale of what could have been, but at least they came away with a hard earned bonus point.
