Ammanford BaaBaas 26 Tondu 2nds 17
Ammanford BaaBaas playing in the West Central Conference welcomed visitors Tondu. Both sides went out with the intension of playing running rugby. Ammanford opened the scoring when scrumhalf Iwan Mainwaring sniped over after a series of Ammanford drives, Full back Cerith Evans added the extras. This was followed up with a penalty. Tondu came back hard and soon scored a well-deserved try. Both sides looked better on attack and after some further pressure by the home team a short pop pass put back rower Jordan ‘Nips’ Davies through to score under the posts. Tondu finished the half strongly scoring on the whistle. Half time score was 20-12.
Playing on a heavy pitch took its toll and the second half did not flow like the first and became very bitty and short tempered. Ammanford although exerting a great deal of pressure only managed to add a couple of penalties to the score. Although Tondu came back positively it took until the last move of the game for them to score in the corner. Ammanford held on for well-deserved victory.
