Llandeilo welcomed Ammanford for the second time this season having won the opening encounter. Playing on a very muddy pitch running rugby was at a premium. The home side got the opening score by crashing up the middle to go over for a try. Llandeilo strong pack earned the home team a couple of kickable penalties which were put over. Ammanford’s only response of the half was a Ioan Jones penalty. The half closed with Llandeilo up 13-1.
The second half was predominantly a slog in the mud, but with time running out Ammanford attacked off a 22m scrum. A loop in midfield by outside half Rhys Tench fed wing Owain Thomas on the angle who split the defence to go over under the posts. With time running out a last minute penalty was awarded to Ammanford and Jones out of the mud slotted the kick to gain the visitors a one point victory, 16-17. This was a tough old game and this was a well deserved win.
