Llandovery Youth 12 Ammanford Youth 17 Ammanfords youngsters continued their impressive form in their first season in youth rugby when they ground out a hard earned victory over unbeaten Llandovery in this league fixture. Ammanford got off to a fortunate start when wing Joseph Parkin intercepted on the half way to sprint clear and score , with outside-half Jordan Howells converting for an early 7-0 lead. Howells added a penalty after 10 minuites play and a ten point lead. However mid- way through the half Llandovery reduced the deficit when they created an overlap for full- back Sean Thomas to score. Llandovery continued to apply the pressure through their superior set-piece play which resulted in two yellow cards for the visiting pack , but heroic defence enabled Ammanford to hold on to their 10-5 lead at half- time. With Ammanford still down to 13 men Llandovery guickly took control in the second - half and influential hooker Garin Williams broke through the defence with an outrageous dummy to score a converted try to take the lead 12-10. Ammanford missed three penalty kicks to regain the lead and things looked ominous when their wing-forward Dylan Lewis was red carded for a late tackle. However captain Sion Griffiths continued to lead by example and a storming run from impressive replacement Oliver Jenkins enabled powerful centre Nick Morris to take possession and outpace the defence from 60 metres out to regain the lead, with Joe Parkin converting. Ammanford continued to frustrate the homesters through excellent defence, with indiscipline and two yellow cards in the closing stages for the homesters enabling the visitors to hang on for another impressive scalp this season.
