Brynamman Youth 0 Ammanford Youth 49
Since losing to a strong Llandovery unit at the start of the season Ammanford have continued to improve ,and following a big win at Cefeneithin last week they were again impressive in this local derby in the WRU Plate fixture.
Outside-half Dan Slattery ran the show from the outset for Ammanford and they got the early breakthrough when prop Garin Criddle found himself out on the wing to cross in the corner from short range, with an excellent conversion from Slattery.
Brynamman continued to concede penalties in desperate defence and another well judged kick from Slattery enabled hooker Jed Anthony to score from the catch and drive at a 5 metre lineout, converted by Slattery.
From a scrum 25 metres out Ammanford full-back Rhys Tench entered the line at pace, and scrum-half Steffan Jones was quickest to the breakdown to dart over for a further converted try.
A 50 metre break from prop Dan Morris took Ammanford to within 5 metres of the home line, with quick passing enabling Rhys Tench to slice through for another converted try and a healthy 28-0 half-time lead.
Ammanford had the luxury of making a number of changes due to their strong squad, and they continued to boss the scrums and dominated the line outs through second-row Callan Davies.
Brynamman were unable to defend a 20 metre lineout catch and drive which saw Ammanfords pack powering over with replacement hooker and captain Sion Griffiths claiming the try, again converted by Slattery.
Another replacement at centre Carwyn Morris continued to torment the home defence, with his elusive running earning the talented youngster a try from 50 metres out, converted by Slattery.
Ammanford completed the rout with an outstanding team try started from near their own line when No. 8 Dylan Lewis made a strong run, with slick inter-passing enabling Carwyn Morris to break clear and another replacement Kieran Williams in support to dive over, with Slattery again unmercifull from a faultless kicking display.
